Fonzo Lee Boyd

Mr. Fonzo Lee Boyd, age 80 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at his home. Mr. Boyd was born in Patrick County, Va., March 31, 1927 to the late George Martin Boyd and Electra McMillian Boyd. He served our country in the United States Army and was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Melba McHone Boyd of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and David White of Mt. Airy; Janet and Jerry Johnson of Cana, VA; Robin Ann Boyd of Mt. Airy; Penny and Jerry Bowman also of Mt. Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Elaine Boyd of Rhonda and Tony and Christine Boyd of Winter Garden, FL; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Almedia and Foy McPeak and Georgia Haynes all of Mt. Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, G. Ervin and Nan Boyd of Mt. Airy; and a special friend and companion, Rose Lonergan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 19, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Jerry Perdue and Rev. Todd Byrd. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 401 Technology Ln., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Grace Baptist Church at 209 London Ln., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
