Foy Lester Dawson

Mr. Foy Lester Dawson, age 83 of 125 Marigold Lane Mt. Airy, husband of Alma McBride Dawson, passed away Monday, November 13, 2006 at his home. Mr. Dawson was born September 1, 1923 in Patrick County, VA to Jack and Louzanie Harold Dawson. He was the owner and operator of Dawson's Watch Shop for 34 years and before that was employed by Ed Steele Jewelers for 23 years. He was a member of Flippen Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Dawson was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. He was a member of VFW Post 2019 Mt. Airy and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Alma McBride Dawson of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Dwight Bruner of Mt. Airy and Teresa and Mike Venable of Ararat; sons and daughter-in-law, Andy and Mary Sue Dawson of Mt. Airy and Max Dawson of Knoxville, TN; step grandchildren, Melissa Venable of Raleigh and Heather Bruner of Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday November 16, 2006 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Tim Burton. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday night 7 to 9 P.M. at Moody Funeral home in Mt. Airy, NC.
