Frances Louise Simpson Draughn

Mrs. Frances Louise Simpson Draughn, 75, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Surry County on October 3, 1932 to the late Joseph Luther and Lillie Mae Harris Simpson. Mrs. Draughn was a homemaker and a faithful member of New Home Church of Christ. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she leaves behind to cherish her memory four daughters and sons-in-law Catherine and Jake Tate of Mount Airy, Sandra and Clinton Ayers of Dobson, Karen and Ken Forester of Winston-Salem and Melissa and Thomas Thompson of Dobson; four sons and three daughters-in-law James and Carolyn Draughn, Jerry Draughn, Lewis and Trish Draughn and Jeffrey and Melissa Draughn all of Dobson; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and Richard DeCresie of St. Petersburg, FL and Marie and Keith Rastorfer of Roanoke, VA; two special sisters-in-law Jewel Draughn and Fern Draughn and a special brother-in-law Glen Draughn all of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughn was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-two years, Grover Samuel Draughn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at New Home Church of Christ with Brother Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Thursday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to New Home Church of Christ c/o James Draughn 4064 Simpson Mill Road. Dobson, NC 27017.
