Mrs. Frances Booker Gillespie passed away peacefully at her home Friday, October 27, 2023. She was 95 years old. Mrs. Gillespie was born July 20, 1928, in Surry County to the late Annie Miller and John Clay Booker. Mrs. Frances Gillespie was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She truly delighted in her family, never missing a chance to celebrate with the ones she loved. Mrs. Gillespie wore a permanent smile on her face, she had joy in her heart that radiated to all who knew her. She had impeccable style, always looking her best no matter the occasion. She will be dearly missed by her precious family. She is survived by her children, Janet Gillespie Davis (Brent), John Gillespie (Linda) and Lloyd Gillespie (Faye); grandchildren, Hunter Davis, Preston Davis, Jillian Gillespie Roach (Rob), Eve Gillespie Trotter (Gray), Jack Gillespie (Elise), Andrea Rinaldi (Richard), Falon Gillespie and Isabella Gillespie; and great-grandchildren, Meris Roach, Reedy Roach, Hart Roach, Wes Trotter, Kit Trotter, Smith Trotter, Olivia Gillespie, Claire Gillespie and Athena Rinaldi. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold Lloyd Gillespie, Sr.; and her brothers, Warren Booker, Charles Booker and Fritz Booker. A graveside service for Mrs. Gillespie will be held Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery with services conducted by Dr. James Joseph. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zion Cemetery Association, c/o Dolores Burtnett, 115 Six Acres Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy has been entrusted with Mrs. Gillespie’s arrangements.
