Frances Jane Smith Gwyn

Mrs. Frances Jane Smith Gwyn, 64, of Pine Terrace Apartments, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Gwyn was born August 22, 1946, in Surry County, to the late Eugene and Etta Frances Niten Smith. She was a homemaker and employed in the hosiery industry for many years. Mrs. Gwyn was a member of The Peoples Church. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Marie Gwyn of Mount Airy and Sandy Gail and Scott Taylor of Cana, VA; a son, Richard Eugene Gwyn of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Devon Alexander Gwyn and Thomas Austin Hollingsworth, both of Mount Airy, and Steven Prescott Taylor of Cana, VA; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Ralph Shinault, Jackie Smith, Rita Kay Morris, and Debra Smith, all of Mount Airy; a brother and sister in law, Kermit and Norma Smith of Pilot Mountain; and a special friend, Annette Bowman of Mount Airy. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 6:00 PM at The Peoples Church, with the Rev. Eugene Brinkley and the Rev. Jeff Wall officiating. The family will have a visitation Tuesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Gwyn family.
