Frances Harrell McMillian

Mrs. Frances Harrell McMillian, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009, at her home. Mrs. McMillian was born November 22, 1919, in Surry County, to Jim and Nannie Lawrence Harrell. She was the last charter member of Gospel Mission Church and was an active member of Indian Grove Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother to four daughters and a son-in-law, Juanita McMillian and Linda McMillian, both of the home, Pat and Gary Johnson of Cana, VA, and Mary Smith of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Henry and Margaret Salgado McMillian of Eden; eight grandchildren, Douglas Henry McMillian, Jr. and wife, Riley, Donnie McMillian, Sarah McMillian, Mickey McMillian, Benjamin Johnson and wife, Amber, Sally Reece and husband, Joey, and Crockett Surratt and wife, Misty; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McMillian was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McMillian; a daughter, Brenda Lee McMillian; a son, Donald Gray McMillian; three sisters, Ethel Wagoner, Nora Clodfelter, and Alma Hall; and two brothers, Ralph Harrell and Garfield Harrell. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Indian Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Floyd and the Rev. Ken Young. Burial will follow in the Indian Grove Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Indian Grove Baptist Church.
