Frances Jean McQueen Wicker

Mrs. Frances Jean McQueen Wicker, 77, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Martinsville, VA. Mrs. Wicker was born in Ecorse, MI, to James Laughlin and Edith Louise Truesdale McQueen. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and retried from Northern Hospital of Surry County. Surviving are a daughter, Denise L. House of Mount Airy; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Paula Lewis and Douglas Lewis, all of Austin, TX, and Benajaih Wicker, III of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and Jim Clifton of Ranchos Murieta, CA, and Mary Lou Lynn of Trenton, MI. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husband, Benajaih Pendleton Wicker, Jr.; a sister, Naomi Wingfield; and a brother, William McQueen. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of the service. Because of Mrs. Wicker's deep love of animals, the family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Surry Animal Rescue, 112 Quail Run Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
