Mr. Francis Guy Bondurant passed away July 31, 2023, after an extended illness. He was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina on March 18, 1937, to William Guy and Lillie Hennis Bondurant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Janet Hattaway, Joann Bondurant and Nancy Strandberg.
He is survived by his brother, Gary Bondurant (Joan), Wilmington, North Carolina and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Francis complete public schools in Greensboro, North Carolina. He continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Art degree from Oberlin University, a Master of Library Science from Western Reserve University, a Master of Art History from Hunter College, (NYU) and he completed two programs at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City.
In his youth, he was a member of the Apollo Boys Choir, Palm Beach, Florida. He traveled extensively with the choir in the United Sates and Europe.
Francis retired as a member of the faculty from New York University. He fulfilled his retirement goals, traveling, visiting culture centers and friends in the United States and several countries. In his later years, he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina to be closer to family.
As per his wishes, he will be interred in the Bondurant Family plot at Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy, North Carolina. There will be no formal services.
