Frank Joseph McGeeney

Frank Joseph McGeeney passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his residence in Collinstown, NC.  He was born February 22, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, to Francis and Catherine Viania McGeeney. He was preceded in death by his father.  Frank was retired from the New York City Police Department, where he was an officer for 20 years.  He was a contributor to the recovery effort after the 9-11 attacks in 2001. 

Frank was strong in his Catholic faith. He attended the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in King, NC.  He was a devoted husband, son, loving brother and proud uncle to his six nieces and nephews.  Frank loved his fur babies which included 10 cats and 2 dogs.  His favorite pastime was watching Kansas State Football.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Overby McGeeney of the home; his mother, Catherine McGeeney, of New York; one brother, Michael McGeeney (Scarlett) of New York; two sisters, Dawn McGeeney Friend (Patrick) of New York and Patricia McGeeney McGahan (Greg) of New Jersey; nieces and nephews, Laurel, Julia, Erinn, Sean, Kaleigh and Matthew.

A memorial service will be held on February 22, 2021 at 4:00 pm, at Moody’s Funeral Home and chapel in Stuart, VA.  Officiating the service will be Pastor George Hiett, Pastor Ricky Rogers and Father Henry Tutuwan.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or Francisco Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, PO Box 15 Westfield, NC, 27053.
