Franklin Tudor Abernathy

Mr. Franklin Tudor Abernathy, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020, at Compass Healthcare in Spencer.  He was born October 29, 1933, in Brunswick County, VA, to the late Alfred Tudor and Carrie Whitlow Abernathy.  Mr. Abernathy retired from Proctor-Silex Inc., where he was a tool and die maker.  He was a loving father and grandfather, who will surely be missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Gary Ellison; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bobby Puckett, Jr. and Robin Puckett, David and Luann Puckett, Ricky and Tisha Puckett, and E. Gary Puckett; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Claudette and David James; as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Abernathy was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret New Abernathy; and two sons, Ronnie Puckett and Stephen Puckett.  A graveside service will be held Monday, September 21, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Coe officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
