Fred Homer Abels

Mr. Fred Homer Abels, age 84, of Mount Airy passed away December 2, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Surry County, March 28, 1936 to the late John and Mamie Bowman Abels. Mr. Abels was retired from Dixie Concrete Products and attended Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Dorlisa Abels and Alan Quesinberry; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Rhonda Abels; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley Benge, Wanda and Don Surratt, Alma Warf, Bobby Benge and friend, Maxine Carlisle; niece, Karen Warf, nephew, Tim Warf, special friend, David Carlisle; his grandcats, Mac, Weeble and Fiona. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Benge Abels, brothers, Sammy Abels, Billy Abels, Jimmy Abels; brothers-in-law, Wayne Benge and Mason Warf.  A private family graveside service will be held. Mr. Abels will lie-in-state on Monday December 7, 2020 at Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the Abels family.
