Fred Alan Dowell

Mr. Fred Alan Dowell, 52, of 754 Woodbriar Trail, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015, at his home. Mr. Dowell was born November 23, 1962, in Surry County, the son of Ambrose Lafayette A.L. Dowell, Jr. and the late Camalure Hooker Dowell. Fred was formerly employed as a truck driver at Lance and was a member of the Christian faith. He is survived by his father, Ambrose Lafayette A.L. Dowell, Jr. of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Ricky Gunnell of Cana, VA; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jerry Dowell and Larry and Vicki Dowell, all of Mount Airy; his nieces, Kayla (John) Parsons, Amanda (Zack) Crissman, Tabitha (Alex) Easter, and Autumn Dowell; his nephews, Kiefer Dowell and Tracy Gunnell; and a great nephew, Hunter Easter. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Billy Moore and Brother Zack Crissman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Larry and Vicki Dowell at 893 North Franklin Road, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
