Fred Maryland Sechrist

Mr. Fred Maryland Sechrist, 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, June 2, 2008, at his home. Mr. Sechrist was born November 17, 1927, in Surry County, to Joseph William and Savannah Jane Johnson Sechrist. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was retired from Noonkester Lumber Company. Surviving are his devoted wife, Lola Moore Sechrist of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Debby Lynn and Darrell Anderson of Mt. Airy; four sons and a daughter-in-law, David Willie Sechrist of the home, Joseph Gregory Sechrist and fiancee, Jeanette Hawks, Freddie Lee Sechrist, and Terry William and Tonya Sechrist, all of Mt. Airy; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lorene MaHone of Dobson and Frances Hodges of Madison; an aunt, Viola Lee Spencer of King; five nieces; three nephews; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sechrist was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Adams; a half-sister, Beulah Mae Robertson; and an infant brother. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Doug Cockerham and Elder Arwood Edwards. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
