Frederick Douglas Hiatt

Mr. Frederick Douglas Hiatt, 75, of Ararat, VA passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy. He was born in Surry County on February 5, 1946, to the late Eric “Doug” Douglas and Kathleen “Kate” Boyd Hiatt. Mr. Hiatt retired from Cross Creek Apparel as the shipping supervisor. After his retirement he loved selling produce and meeting new people. He started going to Flea Markets and Stock Sales in Tazewell, VA and Christiansburg, VA selling produce or giving it away to the many friends he made. Freddy was a simple man who loved his family dearly and they meant so very much to him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Judy Brady Hiatt; a daughter, Crystal Hiatt; Frederick Douglas Hiatt, Jr.; grandchildren, Trey Hiatt, Nikki Hiatt Pritchard; great grandchildren, Nora Rae and Brielle; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth “Kenny” and Gail Hiatt; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 10, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Bluemont Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
