Fredrick Harrold Hiatt, Sr.

Mr. Fredrick Harrold Hiatt, Sr., 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at his residence.  He was born in Carroll County, Virginia December 30, 1939, to the late Clarence Franklin and Stella Mae Hiatt.  Mr. Hiatt worked many years at the NC Granite Quarry where he later retired as vice president and was a faithful member of Lambsburg Baptist Church, Granite Masonic Lodge #322, and a longtime Shriner.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Williams and Donna, Freddy Hiatt, Jr. and Carlene, Chuck Hiatt and Tonya, Todd Hiatt and Karen, Mark Hiatt and Casey; twenty-six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one on the way; two great great grandchildren; sister, Dr. Hazel Jessee; brother and sister-in-law, Ledford Hiatt and Dianah; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joan and Billy Holloway; half sister and brother-in-law Vanessa and Mike Mascia, many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Hiatt; grandchild, Jodi Saffelle; brothers, Mack Hiatt, Sanford Hiatt, and Jerry Hiatt.  Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at Skyline Memory Gardens with the Rev. Israel Easter officiating.  There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home.  The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to Fred; caregivers Dale Chess, Susan Stanley, Luke Holyfield, Emaily Holyfield, and Tracie Bowman.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Dr., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.  Moody Funeral Services of Mt. Airy is serving the Hiatt family.
