Mr. Fredrick Lee Lawson, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, June 18, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Lawson was born April 23, 1930, in Surry County, son of the late John Lester and Mary Etta Brooks Lawson. He worked in the logging industry for many years and was a volunteer at Sunnyside in Winston-Salem. He is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patsy Barneycastle of Pinnacle, Bonnie and David Hodges of Sophia, Peggy and Darrell Hornaday of Mount Airy, and Jeanette and Percy Snyder of Winston-Salem; two special grandchildren, Jessica Snyder and Benjamin Snyder; seven other grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lockie Smith and Mary Ruth Turner, both of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Mary Lou Lawson of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Campbell Lawson; a grandson, William Hornaday; and two brothers, Cleo Lawson and David Lawson. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 20, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Sunnyside, 319 Haled Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Jay Jackson and Sarah Brown for their love and support during the last several months.
