Fritz Gates Dobson

Mr. Fritz Gates Dobson, 75, widower of Mrs. Leona Roberts Dobson, of Dobson passed away at his home on Friday December 19, 2008. He was born in Surry County on January 14, 1933 the son of the late Walter Cornelius and Cova Brim Dobson. Mr. Dobson worked for Beasley Dry Cleaners and Ray's Starlite Restaurant for many years where he made countless friends. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters and sons-in-law, Janath Dobson and Luz Cruz of Dobson, Patricia and Christopher Simmons of Elkin; two step-daughters, Shirley Mae Harley of Greensboro and Bernice and husband Ronnie Gilbert of Elkin; three grandsons, Eric Dobson, Chase Dobson and Tre Simmons; a granddaughter, Avery Cruz; a great-granddaughter, Aubree Dobson; two sisters, Lillie Vernon of Dobson and Wilma Dobson of Winston-Salem. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Dobson was preceded in death by a sister, Demetrius Brim and four brothers, Ivester Dobson, Emilise Dobson, Walter Dobson and Jarvis Dobson. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Rev. Michael W. King and Bishop Tony O. Carter and burial to follow in Clark's Creek Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.
