Mr. Gaither Steve Bledsoe, age 79, of Ararat, NC passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. He was born in Henry Co. Virginia to Roger Steve Bledsoe and Betty Chipman Bledsoe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Sheppard.

Gaither was friend to many and a deacon at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Siloam. He was a Sunday school teacher and a choir leader for 52 years. He retired from Freight Consolidated and Surry County Schools. He was a true farmer at heart and loved God, his wife, Brenda, his church, and his family.
He also loved going on vacation, especially Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and the coast where he could fish. He loved tending to his garden, going out to eat with his family, telling stories, riding his side-by-side, and mowing.
Surviving is his wife, Brenda Wall Bledsoe; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Michael Hudspeth; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Pamela Bledsoe, Chad and Priscilla Bledsoe; grandchildren, Hugh and Skylar Hudspeth, Zeb and Hannah Bledsoe, Cora Bledsoe; sisters Shirley Fletcher, Connie and Albert Anders; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Sandra Bledsoe; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2021, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Mickey Brooks, Rev. Danny Poindexter, Brother Joey Wall will officiate the services. His body will lie in state from 1:00 PM until the time of his service at 3:00 PM. There will be no formal service held at the funeral home. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Bledsoe family.
