Garland Grant Bryant

Mr. Garland Grant Bryant, 90, devoted husband of Sarah Cordella Shelton Bryant, of Ararat, NC, passed away on Friday September 21, 2007 at Central Continuing Care. He was born in Surry County on March 8, 1917 to the late Elisha Phillip and Jenny Ann Cummings Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a retired farmer and a veteran of the US Air Force during WWII having served in Europe. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 56 years, Cordella; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Bryant of Dobson, and Gary Bryant of the home; five grandchildren, Rhonda Evans of Ringold, VA, Penny Wolfe of Lowgap, Kim Hamilton of Fort Lewis, WA., Cheryl Bryant of Ararat, and Adam Bryant of Dobson; nine great-great grandchildren and a sister, Nina Sawyers of Ararat. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by a son Harold Douglas Bryant on Nov. 5, 2004 and an infant granddaughter, Kelly Amber Bryant. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson with Rev. Clayton Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ararat Friends Cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mtn. Post 9436.
