Mr. Garnett Woltz Golding age 88 of 2973 West Pine Street, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Carrie Lou Smith Golding passed away Sunday morning, July 8, 2007 at his home. He was born December 16, 1918 in Surry County to the late Parley and Lula Dawson Golding. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. Mr. Golding was the owner and operator of G.W. Golding Stone Company and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are his wife, Carrie S. Golding of the home, a son, Gary R. Golding, of the home, four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Claude Golding, Bill and Mary Golding, Ed and Gladys Golding and Tom Golding all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Golding was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude Smith, Hattie Hale and Rachel Hemmings and a brother, Tobe Golding. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Brian Smith and Rev. Jonathan Barker. Burial will follow in the Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Tuesday night at Moody Funeral Home where his body will remain until the hour of the service. The family would like to express a special thanks to the employees of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their care given to Mr. Golding during his illness, especially, Libby Marion, Sarah Lineberry and Michael Fields. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
