Mr. Garry Lee Berrier, 61, of Mount Airy, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at his home. Mr. Berrier was born August 8, 1946, in Surry County, to the late Fred L. and Ethel Hooker Berrier. Garry had been employed at Roadway Trucking Company for 35 years. He was an active member of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM, a Shriner, a member of the Scottish Rites, and a member the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mildred Tilley Berrier of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Brian Wagoner of Mount Airy; a son, Curtis Berrier of Mount Airy; three granddaughters, Kourtney Wagoner, Montana Berrier, and Santana Berrier, all of Mount Airy; a sister, Linda Marion of Winston-Salem; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Belinda Berrier of Lincolnton; a special aunt, Rosie Creed of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Berrier was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Berrier. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 21, 2008, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, conducted by members of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM. The family would like to extend thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and special thanks to staff members Delores Johnson and Amy Lawson. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
