Garry Eldon Chilton, Sr

Mr. Garry Eldon Chilton, Sr., 58, of 153 Mountain View Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007, at his home. Mr. Chilton was born March 26, 1949, in Surry County, to the late Eldon Lee and Lottie Tucker Chilton. He was a retired building inspector from Surry County Inspections Department and a passionate farmer for many years. Mr. Chilton was a member of Welcome Baptist Church in Mount Airy. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Edwards McMillian "Chilton" of the home; a sister, Linda Chilton Covington of Pilot Mountain; a son, Garry E. "Chuck" Chilton, Jr. and wife, Lesa Chilton, and son, George Lee Chilton, of Pilot Mountain; two daughters, Adrienne Chilton Isaacs and husband, Byron R. Isaacs, and Jamie Chilton Simmons and husband, Kenneth Simmons, and children, Jesse Tucker Simmons, Dakota Simmons, and Brodie Simmons, all of Pilot Mountain; three stepdaughters, Tiffany Dickens and husband, Brian, and children, Alijah Wood and Kaitlyn Dickens, Sarah Marsh and husband, Eddie Marsh, and children, Heather Snow and Katie Marsh, and Hope Hemrick and husband, Dwayne Hemrick, all of Mount Airy; three stepsons, Michael McMillian, Kelly McMillian and wife, Cynthia McMillian, and children, Brennan McMillian and Lexie McMillian, and Robert Tate and son, Bryson Tate, all of Mount Airy; and a godchild, Kim Peeples. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Welcome Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bailey Elmore and the Rev. Robbie Sizemore. Burial will follow at Simmons Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will rest until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
