Gary Lee Allen

Mr. Gary Lee Allen, 65, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Northern Hospital of Surry County.  He was born October 13, 1952, in Surry County, to the late Latney and Opal Bowman Allen.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shirley Hudson Allen; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Tonia Marshall, Joe and Melissa Allen, and Chris and Misty Allen; a daughter and son-in-law, Twana and Dwight Jenkins; five grandchildren, Hailee Marshall, Lexie Allen, Dalton Marshall, Savannah Allen, and Lilie Allen; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Brenda and Terry Smith, Elaine Hardy, and Vicky Allen and Jennifer Hiatt; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Randy and Mel Allen and Ronnie Allen; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Pruitt and Trick Childress; a brother, Roger Allen; and a nephew, Randall Allen.  The funeral service will be held Monday, September 17, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist, the Rev. Josh Jenkins, and the Rev. Billy Joe Jenkins officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
