Mr. Gary James Gant, age 65 of Mt. Airy, NC passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born January 12, 1959, in Surry County, NC to the late Troy and Mildred Marie Chandler Gant. He was retired Director of the Emergency Services Training Center at Surry Community College. He worked for Surry County Emergency Services for 30 years. He owned and operated Gant Electric Company. He was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church where he willing served as a Deacon and was on various committees. Mr. Gant was known for his generosity and love for family, friends, and church family. He was a member of Renfro Masonic Lodge #691 AF&AM. Surviving is his wife, Tammy Taylor Gant, a brother and sister-in law Dunna and Donna Ward Gant, a niece and husband Anna and Brad Byrd, a nephew, Seth Gant and two great nephews, Lucas Byrd and Kipton Byrd, mother-in-law, Elizabeth Burdette and special friends, Dr. Jason Stopyra, Paul Freer, Randy Hicks, David Frisbee, Gary Arrington and Surry County EMS personnel. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2024, at Bannertown Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Mickey Cogdill, Mr. Kirk Killon, and Rev. Dennis Barnette. The family will receive friends at Bannertown Baptist Church 12:30 PM Friday until time of the service. Full Masonic Rites will be conducted at the service by Renfro Masonic Lodge #691 AF & AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Bannertown Baptist Church Community Meal Fund, 1834 Westfield Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd.
