Gary Lane Orr

Mr. Gary Lane Orr, age 73, of Surry County, passed away Tuesday night at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Orr was born December 21, 1949, to the late Ernest and Elsa Virginia Orr in Buford Georgia.  He was a proud husband, father, and friend to the many that were blessed to have known him.  Gary proudly served his country in the Airforce for 21 years, retiring as a flight crew chief on the famous F-15’s.  After retirement, the job he was most proud of was serving his fellow veterans with their claims at the Department of Veteran Affairs Office, where he retired in 2019 after 11 ½ years of service.  He is survived by his loving wife of the home, Dianne Orr; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Gaya and Derek, sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Orr and Jenifer, Gary Allen Orr and Suzanne Willard; grandchildren, Brandon Orr, Jacob Orr, Logan Orr, Ellie Orr, Sean Kyle McCain, Seth Woods, Katelynn Martin, Avah Gaya, and James Gaya; one sister and brother-in-law, Connie Massengale and Gene.  Per Gary’s request, there will be no formal services held at this time.  The family wishes to thank everyone for the love and prayers shown during Gary’s sickness.  Moody’s of Mount Airy is serving the Orr family.
