Gary Franklin Payne

Mr. Gary Franklin Payne, 65 of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, MD. Gary was born in Surry County on March 22, 1951 to Bernie Franklin Payne and Mary Pauline Young Payne. He was a long time member of Flat Rock Ruritan Club and Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Pauline Young Payne of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Dink Harold of Nashville, TN; a brother, Terry Alan Payne of Mount Airy; a niece, Terri Lynn Kirkman and husband Brad of Mount Airy; a nephew, Dennis Harold, Jr. of Nashville, TN; and four great nieces and nephews, Evan Harold, Morgan Harold, Jessi Taylor, and Luke Kirkman; and a special caregiver and friend, Denise Bledsoe. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his father, Bernie Franklin Payne. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 12, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy at 2:00 PM with Dr. David Sparks and Rev. Tony Goins officiating with burial to follow at Skyline Memory Garden. The family will receive friends on Monday at Moody Funeral Home from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.
