Gene Allen Lester

Mr. Gene Allen Lester, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021, at his home. He was born May 5, 1951, in McDowell County, WV, the son of the late Matthew William and Martillie Knuckles Lester. He was a loving brother and will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memories are five sisters, Oma Lambert, Linda Hammonds, Betty Lester, Brenda Lawson, and Faye Lester; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Doug Lester, Larry Lester, and Roger and Barbara Lester; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lester was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred Miller, Virgie Sloan, Nora Mae Melko, Stella King and Virginia Raby; and two brothers, Guy Lester and Paul Lester. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 1, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Dobson Church of God, with Bro. Brandon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
