Geneva Elna Hawks Snow Bean

Mrs. Geneva Elna Hawks Snow Bean, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 9, 2018, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Bean was born August 21, 1928, in Carroll County, VA, the only child born to the late Glenn and Alma Roena Leftwich Hawks. Geneva retired from Renfro Corporation and was a longtime member of Midway Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Faye Snow of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Annette Bean of Mount Airy and Keith Bean of the home; a stepson, Ronald Joseph Bean of King; five grandchildren, Cassidy Blanton, Donald Snow, Michael Bean, Jessica Bean, and Jessie Jones; several great-grandchildren; and a special friend of 50 years, Pat Ratcliff of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bean was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Eugene Bean; and a daughter, Janice Gay Snow. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the Bean home at 1988 Fancy Gap Road, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
