Geneva Lou Beck Bowman

Mrs. Geneva Lou Beck Bowman, age 94, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning at Northern Regional Hospital.  She was born September 16, 1929, in Surry County to the late George Washington Beck and Ida Frances Ardner Beck.  She was a loving homemaker who was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Mrs. Bowman was also a sitter and caregiver to folks that needed assistance.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Joe Harrelson of Julian; grandchildren, Dean and Melissa Bowman, Anthony and Crystal Easter, and Jennifer and Ronald Cockerham all of Mount Airy; a step grandson, Joey and Tami Harrelson of Huntersville; six great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Rachel Stanley of Benson; a brother, Raymond Beck of Pilot Mountain; a special friend, Shelby Evans of Mount Airy; and several other family and friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, George James Bowman; three sons, Harold Bowman, Ricky Bowman, and Ivan Bowman; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Renee Bowman; two sisters, Annie Mae Hutchens and Sara Dean Dunn; and five brothers, Roby Beck, James Beck, Alvin Beck, Ivan Beck and Wayne Beck; and by two infant brothers.  Funeral services will be held in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday October 26, 2023, at 2:00pm with the Rev. Brian Frazier officiating with burial to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the activity’s department of Surry Community Health and Rehab, 542 Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
