Geneva Evelyn McCraw Slate

Mrs. Geneva Evelyn McCraw Slate, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC. Mrs. Slate was born April 15, 1928, in Carroll County, VA, daughter of the late Billie Wyatt McCraw, Sr. and Katie Evelyn Thomas McCraw. She retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa and Anthony Davis of Greer, SC, and Lori Slate of King; a son and daughter-in-law, Coy Edward Slate, Jr. and Stephanie Jackson Slate of Madison, AL; three grandchildren, Heather Edwards, Ethan Slate, and Connor Davis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slate was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Edward Slate, Sr.; a daughter, Linda Slate Edwards; a sister, Ruth McCraw Hawks; and three brothers, Bill McCraw, Reed McCraw, and Green McCraw. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 8, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Robbie Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
