George Coke Draughn

Mr. George Coke Draughn age 78, of Dobson passed away on Tuesday September 26, 2006 in Mt. Airy at Central Continuing Care. He was born in Surry County on March 10, 1928 to the late George M.Draughn and the late Sally Marion Draughn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Jo Moser Draughn, an infant brother Fred Willard Draughn. He was a retired Dock Worker for Spector Freight Lines, and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law Janice and Mitchell Mayes Sr. of Dobson, Darlene and Keith Stanley of Elkin; by four grandchildren Mitchell Jr. and wife Jenny Mayes, Marty and wife Shannon Mayes, Stephanie Stanley Edwards and her husband Coy, and Seth Stanley; by four great grandchildren Meghan Mayes, Corey Mayes, Kirsten Mayes, and Carter Mayes; by two step great- grandchildren Kendall and Cole Harrold; by three sisters and brothers-in-law Patty and Mac Thomas of Dobson, Helen and Wayne McCormick of East Bend, Beulah and John Ferrell of Sandford, NC; by three brothers and sisters-in-law Kermit Draughn of Dobson, Wayne and Katie Draughn of Dobson, and Hal and Kathleen Draughn of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday September 28 2006 in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson with burial to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens in Mt. Airy. The Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
