George Washington Hull

Mr. George Washington Hull, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Hull was born February 22, 1924, in Carroll County, VA, to the late George Oscar and Ellie Mae Utt Hull. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the Mars Task Force in China, Burma, and the India Theater during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hillsville, VA, and also a member of the VFW Post 1115. George retired from the Bahnson Company. Mr. Hull is survived by his wife, Helen Franklin Hull of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Jack Gardin of Mount Airy; a sister, Arlene Seymore of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hull was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Edwards; and three brothers, Ray Hull, Foy Hull, and Troy Hull. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with Dr. William Gunter officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be sent to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the family.
