George Anthony Mitchell

Mr. George Anthony "Tony" Mitchell, 50, of Dobson, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011, at his home. Surviving are his wife, Joy Norman Mitchell; two daughters, Abbie Wagoner and Hanna Mae Mitchell; a son, Jacob Mitchell; and a granddaughter, Payton Howell. Tony was the son of Jacob Preston Mitchell and Mary Alice Mitchell, both deceased. He is survived by brothers, Grady, Roy, and Randy Mitchell and their wives as well as his sister, Wanda Dobbins. In addition, he had multiple nieces and nephews and was blessed with a large loving extended family. There will be a private graveside service. A life celebration service will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Salem Fork Baptist Church at 3:00 PM. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Hannah and Jacob Mitchell Scholarship Fund, c/o Southern Community Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 678, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Mitchell family.
