Mr. George Edward Pallinder, Jr., 88, of 1297 Galax Trail, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 12, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Pallinder was born October 26, 1923, in South Boston, VA, the son of the late George Edward Pallinder, Sr. and Wilma Bohannon Pallinder. George served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Wachovia Bank, N.A. and was a member of Hills Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Maude "Libby" Tate Pallinder of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sheila and Syd Parris of Montreal, Canada, Pam Smith of Mount Airy, and Debbie Pallinder of Stuart, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, André and Teresa Maisonneuve of Greensboro; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Jim McHoney of Boston, MA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pallinder was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Pallinder McHoney. The funeral services will be held Saturday February 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Hills Grove Baptist Church with full military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post #2019 and Pilot Mountain Post# 9436. Officiating the service will be Rev. Emmett Crotts and Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hills Grove Baptist Church 1318 Pilot Power Dam Rd.
