George "Cotton" Gordon

Mr. George Wayne “Cotton” Gordon, 86, of Mt. Airy passed away at Central Continuing Care, Wednesday, April 28, 2021.  He was born in Surry County, May 3, 1934, to the late Jesse William “Bud” and Bessie Lee Young Gordon.  Mr. Gordon loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all the grandchildren and spoiling the great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with his friends and country music.  He is survived by his wife Teressa Butcher Gordon; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Henry Portis, Melissa and Marty Dunbar; his son and daughter-in-law, Richie and Sherry Gordon; grandchildren and spouses, Brittany and Lance Richardson, Zack and Brianna Gordon, Brittany and Ben Misay, Courtney Langley and boyfriend Yovanni Soriano, Whitney and Austin Smith, Hunter Dunbar, and Parker Dunbar; great-grandchildren, Brody Cassell, McKenzie Smith and Cannon Smith, Nash Richardson and Knox Richardson, Aubrey Misay, Waylon Gordon, and Memphis Gordon, Carson Soriano; a sister Charldene Hawks; a sister-in-law Janice Gordon; a brother-in-law J.R. Owens; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Gordon; sisters, Catherine Bliss, Dot Gilley, and Doris Owens; and a brother Larry Gordon.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, at 3:30 PM, Monday, May 3, 2021 with Rev.
