Georgia Faye Boyd Haynes

Mrs. Georgia Faye Boyd Haynes, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Haynes was born December 7, 1919, in Carroll County, VA, to George and Electra McMillian Boyd. She retired from Pine State Knitwear and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth Goins, Betty and Troy Hodges, Bonnie Quesinberry, and Katherine Sawyers, all of Mount Airy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Pete and Gloria Haynes, Lonnie Haynes, and Richard and Linda Haynes, all of Mount Airy; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Nan Boyd of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Haynes; a son, Sanford Haynes; seven sisters, Gray Collins, Dot Creed, Dorothy Simmons, Almedia McPeak, Violet Owens, Maybelle Haynes, and Ophelia Gravitte; and a brother, Jimmy Boyd. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 24, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the wonderful caregivers of hospice for the love and care shown to Mrs. Haynes.
