Georgia Ruth Stanley Barnes

Georgia Ruth Stanley Barnes, age 87, of Elkin, NC, went to her heavenly home on January 10, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on April 27, 1934, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late John Alvin and Cora Reece Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Blane William Barnes; a sister, Carrie Mae Scott; brothers, Junior, Spencer, Bobby Dale and Clyde Stanley. She is survived by her children, Carolyn (James) Gentry, Michael (Linda) Barnes, Sheila (Terry) Harrison, Beverly Norman (John Gillespie); her grandchildren, Brad (Pam) Barnes, Jamie Gentry, Kurt Gentry (fiancé Haley Holland), Brandon Norman (Lane Matthews), Cody Norman, Hannah (Travis) Peterson, Dillon (Tara) Norman, Haylee (CJ) Jasinski, Kari Barnes (Teejay Cooper); step-grandchildren, Aaron and Sherry Royal, Nick and Amy Brooks; great-grandchildren, Blane Barnes, Kalea Barnes, Grayson Norman; step-great-grandchildren, Autumn Royal, Luke Royal, Colton Brooks. Also surviving are her brothers, Jack Stanley, Dennis (Mildred, her special friend) Stanley and sisters, Helen (Thomas) Pratt, Nellie (Donnie) Hemric and many special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnes retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company. She was full of grace and a faithful servant. She loved with her whole heart and always trusted in the Lord. She brought glory to God every single day. Her family was her pride and joy. She loved cooking for her family, gardening, working in her flowers, bird watching, working puzzles, doing word search books, but most of all she enjoyed starting each day by reading her Bible. A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022. Her body will lie in state Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm.
