Mrs. Georgia Anna Fulcher Adams Shunk, 101, of 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, formerly of South Main Street, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009. She was born November 10, 1907, in Carroll County, VA, daughter of the late Spencer and Annie Cruise Fulcher. She retired from Tesh Lumber Company and was a member of the Mount Airy Friends Meeting. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Jane Adams Thacker of Mount Airy and Katylee Shunk McColl McInerney and husband, Joseph, of Vienna, VA; a daughter-in-law, Junie Unroe Adams of Gallipolis, OH; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Susan T. Arnold of Mount Airy, Brantley "Brant" and Ginger Adams of Oklahoma City, OK, Claire Lynn and James Claggett of Ohio, Anna Kristen and Kurt Sauder Louisville, KY, Michael and Gwyn McColl of Los Angeles, CA, Matthew and Michelle McColl of Madison, and Leigh Erin McColl of Los Angeles, CA; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ella DeHaven Fulcher of Hillsville, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shunk was preceded in death by her first husband, George M. Adams, Sr.; her second husband, Harold E. Shunk; a son, George M. Adams, Jr.; a son-in-law, James Calvin Thacker; four sisters; and four brothers. The funeral service will conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, by the Rev. Kurt Sauder. Burial will follow in the Wilkinson Cemetery in Hillsville, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Friends Homes of Guilford, 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410, or to the Mount Airy Friends Meeting, 109 West Wilson Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
