Mrs. Geraldine (Gerri) Theresa DiRuzza, age 84, of Elkin, North Carolina, formerly of Middleboro, Massachusetts passed away peacefully November 9, 2022, at her residence. She was born October 18, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Domenic Raphanella and the late Marie (DeMaino) Raphanella. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mariano “Sonny” DiRuzza; brother, Joseph Raphanella; and brother-in-law, Tommy Sullivan.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Donna Townsend and son-in-law Russell, Lynda DiRuzza and son-in-law Mark Covell; Mario DiRuzza and daughter-in-law Gina; Philip DiRuzza and daughter-in-law Libbi; sister JoAnn Wood and husband Jimmy, brother Anthony Raphanella and sister-in-law Paula; sister Marie Sullivan; and sister-in-law, Chong Raphanella; grandchildren, Russell Townsend and wife Crystal; Daralyn Covell and partner Mikey, Cristina Bradley and partner Dustin, Randy Townsend and wife Tiffany, Michelle Mangone and husband Kyle, Nicole DiRuzza, Anthony DiRuzza, Fae Diruzza and Emma DiRuzza; eight great grandchildren, many godchildren, nieces, nephews and special friend, Eddie.
Gerri was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, sibling and friend to all that knew her. She was of Catholic faith, worked at Winthrop-Atkins in Middleboro as a Fabricator for many years. She also worked a Traffic Supervisor in East Boston prior to moving to Middleboro. She was a volunteer at St Anne’s Bingo in West Bridgewater for a number of years. She enjoyed bingo and going to the casino. She also enjoyed playing pokeno with her friends and loved to travel.
A half mass will be held on December 17th, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at St. Anthony's of Pada, 250 Revere Street, Revere MA 02151.
Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden MA 02148
There will be a celebration of her life after at Fireside Grille, 30 Bedford Street, Middleboro MA 02346 from 12:30-3:30 PM.
