Mrs. Gertie Ada Felts Evans, 98. of Winston-Salem, formerly of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Evans was born August 20, 1911, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Victor L. and Melissa Carolyn Combs Felts. She was a homemaker and former co-owner of Evans Hardware in Mount Airy. She was a member of Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Evans is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Dennis Berrier of Winston-Salem and Betty and Don Steele of Clemmons; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Hilda Evans of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, Keallie E. Evans; and several brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 28, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder Alan Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
