Gertrude Vernon Bowman Davis

Mrs. Gertrude Vernon Bowman Davis, age 100, of Claudville, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at her home. She was born on August 24, 1924 in Stokes County to the late Ellis and Susie Painter Bowman. Mrs. Davis retired from Spencer’s after 35 years of service and was also a longtime member of the Granite City Cloggers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Charles (Brenda) Davis, Douglas Davis, and Stephen Davis; grandchildren, Ronald Davis, Denise Mabe, Cindi and Crystal Davis, Tim and Jay Lineberry, Laura Martin; thirteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren; sister, Oleta Miller, brother, Gordon Bowman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bennett Davis; brothers, Dorman, Nyle, Brock, and Dwight Bowman. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Rev. Philip Adams. Burial will follow in Hatchers Chapel Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the funeral home.
