Mrs. Gertrude “Bernell” Willard Easter, 89, of Dobson passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy. She was born in Carroll County, VA on October 16, 1931 to the late Ernest and Effie Combs Willard. Mama loved God, her family and friends and she loved digging in the dirt to plant flowers. Nothing made her happier. We are so very thankful for every minute of her life; and we thank God for blessing us with such a precious mama. We treasure the Bibles she has read that are highlighted and underlined. She has written notes to us in those Bibles. We cherish these gifts from her. Our hearts are shattered and life will never be the same without her. Her favorite Bible verse is John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Please ask Jesus into your heart. Mama would be so pleased. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Woods (Bob), Renee Weddle (Darryl), Shannon Weddle (Danny); a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Easter (Denise); grandchildren, Jeffrey Shinault, Angie Plummer (Dan), Kayla Weddle, Matthew Easter, Bailey Secundino (Emanuel), Levi Easter; step grandchildren, Melissa Padden (Mark), Katlyn Snow (Justin); great grandchildren, Zachary Branon (Autumn), Gracie Branon, Logan Easter, Connor Easter; step great grandchildren, Kari Plummer, Skylar Snow, Emma Snow; sister, Shirley Glass; very special sisters-in-law, Kay Willard, Lois Willard, and Frances Willard; brother-in-law, Hennis Easter; special neighbors “Adopted Kids”, Joan and Vance Vaughn; “adopted” daughter, Betty Moser; “adopted” grandson, Adam Bryant; very special lifelong friend, Imogene Combs; many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey C. Easter; brothers, Otis, Paul, Aubry, Garnet, and Delmar Willard; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Easter. A private memorial service will be held at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hagan McClellan officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home. Thank you to Northern Regional Hospital of Mount Airy for taking such good care of Mama. 2. Timothy 4:7, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
