Gifford Melvin "Pete" Easter

Mr. Gifford Melvin “Pete” Easter, age 89, of Cana, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 28, 2023.  He was born on January 27, 1934 in Carrol County to the late Carnis Elmer and Celestia Rigney Easter.  Mr. Easter retired from Riverdale Electronics after many years of service.  Pete was a private family man who enjoyed westerns, ice cream, and visits with his siblings, grand kids, great-grand kids, and long-time friends, Doug, and Gary.   Left to cherish his memory are sons and daughter-in-law, Phillip Easter (Margaret), Darrell Easter; grandchildren; Brad Easter (Tammy Melton), Kandy Alvear (Mark), Chasity Baldwin (Cory), Brook Easter; great-grandchildren, Chase Alvear, Bryice Alvear, Tristan Day, Katie Alvear, Emily Easter, Macean Alvear, Carlee Melton, Micah Baldwin, Olivia Baldwin, and Lilla Grey Baldwin, with one great-great-grandchild on the way; sisters, Geneva Dowell, Josie Nichols, Louise Marsh (Larry); brothers, Alvin Easter, Bennil Easter (Patsy).  In addition to his loving parents Mr. Easter was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Hull, and Arlene Gwynn.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Rocky Ford Christian Church with service conducted by Bro. Cory Baldwin.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until time for the graveside service at the church.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the college fund for his great, and great-great- grandchildren c/o Chasity Baldwin, 2205 Round Peak Church Rd., Lowgap, NC 27024.
