Gilbert Lincoln Wood

Mr. Gilbert Lincoln Wood, age 83 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on June 18, 1941 to the late Benton Uhel Wood and Claudine Hall Wood. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ellen Wood; a brother, Buford Wood; and a sister, Jean Belcher. He was a member of Mountain View United Church. He worked in the laminating department at Bassett-Walker Industries for many years. He later worked in sawmills and in construction with Harris Construction. He loved spending time with his children, and he enjoyed R/C racing. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Helms Wood, of the home; two sons, Troy Wood and Norman Wood, both of Meadows of Dan; three step-children, Shelia Marshall and Sylvia Conner, both of Meadows of Dan, and Robby Conner of Ararat; two brothers, Harry Wood (Kaye) of Tennessee and Richard Wood (Karen) of Vesta; and a sister, Margaret Boyd (Leo) of Meadows of Dan.
