Gillie Ada Marshall Crotts

Mrs. Gillie Ada Marshall Crotts, 97, of 93 Dalton Drive, Cana, VA, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center in Hillsville, VA. Mrs. Crotts was born May 13, 1912, in Carroll County, VA, daughter of the late Banner and Lucinda Hiatt Marshall. She retired from Carolina Foods. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. Mrs. Crotts loved the Lord and was a devoted witness and a dedicated member of True Vine Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Clifford Hall of Hillsville, VA, and Carolyn and Claude Worrell of Abingdon, VA; a son, Bobby Crotts of Cana, VA; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Crotts of Cana, VA; ten grandchildren, Ricky Rudisill, Deborah Cagle, Chris Rudisill, Brandon Rudisill, Michael Worrell, Curtis Crotts, Jr., Timmy Crotts, Donnie Marshall, Diana Coalson, and Delight Marshall; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a friend and caregiver, Collene Puckett; and a special dog, "Clyde" who visited the nursing home each week. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crotts was preceded in death by her husband, Clovest Crotts; two sons, Curtis Crotts and Billy Marshall; a granddaughter, Charlene Hawks; and two brothers, Joe Marshall and Tommy Marshall. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 2:00 PM at True Vine Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Rawley "Dink" Haynes, Jr., and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at True Vine Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to True Vine Baptist Church, P.O. Box 521, Toast, NC 27049. The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center for the loving care that was given to Mrs. Crotts during her stay there.
