Gladys Allen Cook

Mrs. Gladys Allen Cook, 80, of Mouny Airy, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at home. Mrs. Cook was born August 12, 1928, in Patrick County, VA, to Taylor and Ella Mae Allen. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and retired from Quality Mills. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patrichia McGettigan, Iona and Tommy McBride, and Teresa and Graham Tilley, all of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Crystal Giddens of Ellabell, GA, MaLenka McGettigan of Mount Airy, Shanna McGettigan of Athens, GA, Allan and Amy Cook of Mount Airy, Chris Faulkner of Lambsburg, VA, Ashley Faulkner of Mount Airy, Amanda and Ryan Loiacono of Culver City, CA, and Jeremy East of Mount Airy; great-grandchildren, Philip, Stephen, Benjamin, and Malachi Giddens of Ellabell, GA, Jaccob and Tyler Cook of Mount Airy, and Ayden Loiacono of Culver City, CA; two sisters, Margaret Graves and Mrs. L.K. (Laura) Harold; a brother, Herbert Allen; a brother-in-law, Wade Hudson; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Cook; a sister, Magalene Hudson; a brother, Sidney Allen; two nephews, Perry Allen and Dennis Harold; and brothers-in-law, L.K. Harold and George O. Graves, Jr. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home. A private family service will be held.
