Gladys Johnson Davis

Mrs. Gladys Johnson Davis, 86, of 348 Taylor Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Village Care of King. She was born November 15, 1923, in Surry County, to the late Jacob Benton and Mecie Ann Goins Johnson. She retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery and was a member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Gaye and Bobby Goins of Dobson and Nita Jo and Kenneth Norman of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Davis of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Danelle Davis, Christi Sulier, Dusty Hayes, Wendy Guy, and Sonya Copeland; eight great-grandchildren, Elise Hayes, Leah Hayes, Madison Rapisardi, Hannah Rapisardi, Colby Guy, Wyatt Guy, Devin Copeland, and Bristal Copeland; a sister, Annie Bowman of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Ivadine Johnson of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Davis; and a brother, Bud Johnson. The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 13, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
