Gladys Ashworth Gunter

Mrs. Gladys Ashworth Gunter, age 91 of Stuart, and formerly of Maxey Drive, Spencer, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in McDowell County, West Virginia on May 7, 1917 to the late Oscar and Bertie Tuggle Ashworth. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gunter; one daughter, Karen Lawson; three sisters, Irene Roberts, Christine Morris and Fairy Adams; and three brothers, Burton, David and James Ashworth. She was a member of Meadow United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Gunter is survived by one daughter, Frances Moss of Spencer; four grandchildren, Gina M. Gunter, Andy Moss, Kevin Lawson and Robin Riggins; and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Edgar Ashworth of Ridgeway, Leroy Ashworth of Tampa, Florida and Billy Ashworth of Madison, North Carolina; and two sisters, Janeria Cox of Monticello, Florida and Dolly Bates of Axton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gunter will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Brother Mark Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Gunter Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Frances Moss at 3358 Golf Course Road, Spencer.
