Ms. Glenda Ray Bryant Maritato, 71, of 380 Lumber Plant Road, Lowgap, passed away Monday morning, August 26, 2013, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Ms. Maritato was born October 8, 1941, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Guy Floyd and Elsie Savannah Hawks Bryant. Glenda worked in the evergreen industry for many years and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lowgap. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gary Edwards of Ennice; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Bob and Shirley Bryant of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Maritato was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Nichols; and two brothers, Homer Bryant and Lawrence Bryant. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church in Lowgap, with the Rev. Woody Flippen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made Moody Funeral Services, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist the family with the funeral expenses. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
