Mrs. Glenda Simpson Nichols, 82, of Mt. Airy passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Monday, July 12, 2021. She was born in Surry County to the late William Cirgus and Ila Atkins Simpson. Mrs. Nichols was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and friend. She worked as a bookkeeper in various offices, including Bob Hodgins Accounting, Rogers Realty, ASC office, Mt. Airy Stockyard, and several others. Mrs. Nichols served as the pianist and organist at White Plains Friends Church for several years. She was a well-known seamstress, craftswoman, and wonderful cook. Mrs. Nichols loved her family and enjoyed sharing meals with them as long as her health permitted. She will be dearly missed by her husband J. Glenn Nichols; her sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Lucy Nichols, and Jeffrey Mitchell and Donna Nichols; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Tom Olechiw; grandchildren and spouse, Joshua and Cam Nichols, Nicole Nichols, Jessica Nichols, Jerrod Nichols, and Justin Olechiw; great grandchildren, Elijah Nichols and Ezekiel Nichols; a sister Margie Marion; and several nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her sisters Daisy Chuy and June Siceloff. A memorial service will be held later.
